Howdy all! The MAVEN spacecraft is slated to lift off during the afternoon of next Monday, 18 November, and Vivienne and I are thrilled to be attending the launch.  From Cape Canaveral, we'll be able to offer you a front-row seat for the launch festivities.  If you haven't already, check out my interviews with Mike Chaffin and Matteo Crismani to get a sense of some of the exciting science we can expect from NASA's latest Mars mission.

Launching a rocket is tricky business, so there's no guarantee MAVEN will lift off on Monday, but we'll be there all week bringing you the latest coverage (and laying on the beach!).  Stay tuned this week for a look at the Atlas V rocket the spacecraft will ride to orbit and details on viewing the launch live on NASA TV.  In addition, we'll be live-tweeting the launch events from start to finish.  So if you're not already following @cosmic_chatter on Twitter, click the button below to listen in.

Note: the MAVEN mission was developed at and is operated by my employer, the Laboratory for Atmospheric and Space Physics at the University of Colorado - Boulder.
